Do an OU degree in something that interests you. It will fill the time even at work. Also with you hating people it's ideal as it's distance learning with only the occasional optional tutorial.

Then see what you can do with it. In the mean time invoice, invoice, .... etc. Save it up and then if you have to take a salary cut it won't be so bad.
