      I'd definitely get legal advice here. Boss sounds a reasonable chap but may be unaware of what skullduggery HR might try on you.

      Don't sign anything HR ask you to without thinking carefully about it first, and that's probably the time to get legal advice.

        When I was made redundant the extra payments being offered where only available if you went VR.

            Well, been to see HR.

            No final date yet as my notice period starts the minute the officially tell me. Unofficially it's likely to be the 31st Match.

            Officially they will try and find suitable alternative roles within the business, but given what I do it's unlikely there will be anything.

            Redundancy offer is not bad considering I've only been here two years.

            If I go down the statutory route I get a shade over 15% of salary net of tax including statutory redundancy, and the right to take them to a tribunal if I think I've been had.

            If I sign up to say I won't go to a tribunal I get just under 28% of salary net.

            Off to the solicitors on Wednesday, company will pay to have the redundancy agreement vetted by them.

            I have some concerns about the legitimacy of the process as it stands re proper process having been followed, will see what the solicitor says. If nothing else it could be a bargaining chip on the payout.

                  depending on the number of posts going depends on the consultation period.

                  I think if 30 days consolation if less than 100;
                  90 days consultation is > 100;

                  plus 30k tax free as a payment
