    And He's Off

BBC News - Egypt crisis: President Hosni Mubarak resigns as leader

So he's handed power to "the high command of the armed forces". That doesn't sound good, does it?

I wonder if it was like every end-of-contract handover I've had to to.

I bet he's been pestering "the high command of the armed forces" for the past fortnight, saying they could really do with scheduling a handover session, only to be given the brush-off.

Now, at half three on the Friday afternoon, Mubarak's just come back from drinks with the team, and is ready to hand in his pass and hit the road. But he's beseiged by 101 questions from "the high command of the armed forces", complaining that they've received Mubarak's 150-page handover document, can't understand a word of it, and can they have his phone number in case they have any questions about it next week?

I just hope it settles down into a stable government. There are enough "loony" states in the Middle East.

            A very subtle military coup.

How is this outcome a good thing? Do the people realize that they have gained nothing from this apart from pushing themselves closer to the brink.
