Bill Bryson wrote a book on his experience of walking it (well, most of it). I know Bryson isn't to everyone's taste, but I thought it was a bloody good read and well worth getting it if you're thinking of trying it yourself....

Isn't it more of a walking thing, i.e. no bikes allowed? If not, you'd need a pretty rugged bike. At least LE-JOG is tarmac all the way.
