Why should everything be "balanced" exactly?

If it's a program about extremists it's a program about those extremists, is it really necessary to keep stating the obvious, that there are some of the same political viewpoint/religion/whatever who aren't so extreme?

The real problem is that people are too stupidly emotional and oversensitive, they take any valid criticism of some members of their group as an attack on all of them, any valid criticism of some practices as being against the creed as a whole. Unfortunately, that then gets taken as meaning that the group as whole supports those practices.

I think things would work better if everybody just said (within obvious limits) whatever they felt. How can there be a valid exchange of opinions if we prefilter everything we say?

You may have a point. I respect that fact. However I think you're talking out of your arse.

That and Seife's book are in my library - along with about 100 other pop maths books (Nahin, Mayoer (sp?) are the best).
        I'm not counting my textbooks.
The best pop math of all time (although it requires at least A-level + Differential Equations) is the classic "The Pleasures of Counting" by Korner.

        HTH, you ignorant bastard.

Of course you do. You own books and you're not sure how to spell the name of their author. Right.

I write software for DSPs mate. Don't start showing off with yer maffs.

there is no point having books if you dont read them or understand them. I have shown you that the ancient Babylonians used base 60, with 59 sets of characters and a space. they just did not call the space a zero or acknowledge it was a number.
most enquiring minds would say, heck yes, thats interesting. but a closed mind with a one book willy pea brained mindset would flap his gob and blow hard.

              1. I can't remember foreign names. I own hundreds of books. Should I remember the spelling of every author?

              2. Perhaps you know more maths than me. Maybe from your City and Guilds. I seriously doubt it. But then why the fook are you earning a pittance in Swindon instead of using that knowledge to rake it in the City?

Suggest you back that up with a bit of hard evidence pal because, from where I'm stood you're the one spouting racist bile.

There's not much call for DSP software in the City and my banking experience is retail plus EMV.

Btw, you don't know how much I earn, you've made assumptions.

You originally said the Arabs invented zero. Which is bollux. Or was that your fellow thicko churchy? So much gobtulipe comes from you two, I can't remember which is which.

Tell you what - you keep pulling your willy over the Babylonians as they get you so hot.

The rest of us will get on with using our knowledge to rake it in.
