It was always going to happen.

I would be pretty sure the 'security services' are building up the pro Mubarak side.

Martial law to be imposed in the next few days and plenty of people get shot on Friday.

Cairo is a pretty mad place at the best of times. Must be a nightmare there at the moment. The thing is on the news it just looks like another backwards Middle Eastern city but if you have been there it isn't. It's generally pretty civilised and a great place.

One thing that does make my blood boil though is some of them breaking in to the Museum (the red building in the background of most pictures) They beheaded some mummies and damaged some artifacts which seems pointless and a great shame. Tutankhamun's golden headpiece is in there and it isn't secure at all. Seriously hope they don't raid the place.

Obama should have kept his trap shut, it was all looking resonably in the last couple of days peaceful until he got his comments in.

If they start shooting on Friday it will turn really nasty.

The current action is really just testing the waters to see if the protesters can be made to fight back, if they can then Mubarak is safe as he will be "needed to maintain law and order".

Transitions of power in countries who have had leaders for 30 years rarely go peacefully.

Mubarak will be offering the top flight in the army shed loads and that will trickle down in orders to shoot or be shot in the next few days.

While much of the west was giving a "we are not getting involved" mantra, Obama was mouthing off and egging on protests against a secular middle east country when the Muslim Brotherhood is poised to step in when the power vacuum takes place. Naive fruit loop.
