Whether you want colour in your newspaper depends upon whether you buy it for the news, or the pictures.

In which case I suppose the average CUKker is target market for colour e-readers

        They are also cheap devices.
Can you download PDF files onto them, or are they restricted to chargeable/encrypted ebooks?

I think they work with PDF, but you'd better make sure that your particular model does.

Not only PDF but .doc and even .docx, and they'll even convert to a more conveniently formatted Kindle doc - you email the file to your kindle and it happens by magic.

PDF and other formats that have been mentioned - and there are shedloads of free books, either out-of-copyright at Project Gutenberg and similar repositories, or newly-created such as this collection of shared knowledge from Stack Overflow's (Creative Commons licensed) content pool.

I'm always surprised how quickly non-techy people are interested within moments of seeing the Kindle, about the way the screen looks. Typical response "ooh, it's like looking at a book!"

I only really read when I am on holiday ( I just never have the time )

A kindle would lighten my bag load massively

                      I gotta say folks,

I don't really 'get' this e-reader Kindle crap stuff

                      What I don't get is...

why to buy some black and white e-reader crap, why not buy a IPAD and have everything and read pdf versions of books ?

where does the e-reader fit in ?

and from what I see they ain't cheap neither

it's kind of an oxymoron, in 2011, to read a headline that 'Kindle' is going to come out in colour - wow woopee doo

if I was in the market for something like that i'd get a IPAD.

                      Milan.
