Not nearly enough bloody ageism in contracting if you ask me. Much rather be at home living off the wife's earnings, gardening, harvesting facial lumps, drinking tea and moaning about my piles like someone of my age ought to be doing.

What field is that - carriage lamp fitting?Originally posted by darmstadtWell I'm over 40, just, but in my field thats a bonus as nearly everyone one is retiring or is getting on. When I go to sites I'm normally the youngest and because its now getting a rarity to find younger people in my field I can command better rates.
Seriously, I bet it's something useful like aircraft design or nuclear power. God, if anyone thinks this country is turning into a tuliphole now, imagine what it will be like in twenty years with blackouts and riots every day, all because Labour have dithered for years before even starting to build all the nuclear power stations we'll need by then!Work in the public sector? Exactly. If we invest in nuclear power now, we'll all glow in the dark and won't need to waste energy on street lights. Think of the ecological benefits.Originally posted by OwlHootWhat field is that - carriage lamp fitting?

Give me young supple pliable flesh, over the rotting stench that emanates from most over 40s. They fart, they belch, they sweat in buckets. Their appearance is old-fashioned, their minds are closed.
They smell, they think they are funny, they make no effort. They are old tired flesh and they think experience is king. Experience of what ? Doing nothing for the last 20 years.
Everyone over 40 should die - that is the way the human body was designed.
After that it is just not worth keeping the old banger going.

Vetran was a joke!
I was a newbie I couldn't have my favourite moniker so I became vetran.
I'm still under 40, not unfortunately rich enough to retire.
There does seem to be some ageism even in your late 30's, sad really as I remember what I was like as a young buck now at least I walk down the hill and service all the cows!Comment
