Yes, you're quite right, it's definitely "petrol".

"petrel" is a kind of bird.

It snowed a bit here this afternoon, but now it's melted again

Needed to employ the 4-wheel drive most of the way and even then had a few brown trouser moments. Have to say though, tootling along frosty tree-lined backroads covered in a carpet of virgin snow in the middle of the night has a surreal beauty to it.
Turns out there would have been little I could have done about the issue anyway as the whole area had lost mains power, but the site was still up and working on batteries, so happy days and kerching!! Got the camera packed tonight in case I get a similar shout, must capture it for posterity.
        For the boards information...

When I went for a beer with the six fingered, balding, overweight, Strictly/X Factor loving, ex nightclub bouncer Scotsman who is Shaunbhoy he received a call-out call. He radioed in to say it was on the way, but was actually drinking beer in the pub.

He delayed for as long as possible and was about to head off when the call came through 'Don't worry SB you don't need to go'. Quick as a flash 'Oh. I'm already on way, I'll turn back then!'

Those extra few hours overtime, he only bought one extra round! You tight blagging g'et!

You are only upset because I wouldn't buy one of those cheap "Rolex" watches you were hawking round the pub while I got the rounds in.

We've got about 4 inches here, and Ocado turned up with only half my shopping

That's the last time I use a cheapo supermarket.

We've had some this morning too, but not a huge amount. The pavements and cars look nice and snowy, but alas there are still patches of earth poking through the snow on the grass, so it's not a nice full coverage.

Where's zeitghost? He's likely had a fair bit of snow in Wales, and has been known to make the odd weather related post.

I suspect he on his Skool holidays and doesn't post otherwise.
