I am not a religious person, I dont have many strong beliefs either. Some of the cleverest and most rational people I ever met are religious or have other very strong beliefs.
The two things can exist side by side. I cant explain why some people belive in the supernatural, but its not through any lack of brain power.

You need to understand that anecdotal stories do not evidence make. What you think is irrelevant. That's why people conduct studies on large numbers of subjects. Its to remove subjective opinion.

Sas is actually reasonable here (probably by accident). But what he then totally fails to touch upon is that averages are fairly unhelpful, as EO points out. He makes the leap from "on average religious people have lower IQ" to "all religious people are stupid" like it's a single line on a graph with smarts on one axis and religiosity (bleh) on the other. Any GCSE maths student can tell you that's not how it works.

Sas demonstrates in this thread a prime example of taking a little knowledge, twisting it into a lie for his own motives, and then claiming it as verifiable fact. Whether it's through stupidity or malice, this is a pattern we see through history... religious people doing harm in "the name of God", secular folk use the same tool to spread misinformation.
