This reminds me of a good film: 'Being There' starring Peter Sellers. If you've not seen it, the plot on the wikipedia link is well worth a read for a laugh.
I quite like the phase - I yearn for the old days, pink on the map, sun never sets, time for tiffin? Who shot the tiger under the billiard table?? etc etc...?
