One "bitterly" isn't enough. Not bad for an autumn day in the south.Benson in Oxfordshire was minus 7.6C,
So that would be bitterly^4 cold? The Met Office said tonight will be “bitterly, bitterly cold”, with temperatures not topping 4C even in sunnier areas, and predicted it could get even colder on Saturday and Sunday.Comment

Still only a light dusting from yesterday evening and the forecast is no more snow here over the next few days
But the long-term forecast is that the big freeze could go on at least until winter.

About 3 inches in Ringinglow just South of Sheffield.
I was hoping to go up in the Peaks walking today - but might just have to suffer the city's parks.

And there are still people running around outside wearing not much more than shorts and a t-shirt
And I also saw the 'odd' student around town yesterday evening, which was sub-zero, donning a short sleeved t-shirt. That's just showing off surely. Still, there's biting winds to come next week, so that should sort them out.Comment

The 3" from early in the week had gone, today woke up and it's 6" deep (measured it), everything is covered even walls. Our shopping delivery was cancelled, luckily we live in town so can walk to find sustenance.
It's about as deep as it got last year, not that cold though, just below zero.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

We've had another sackful of snow in Durham again (about 7 inches) ....I think its day 3 and its snowing.... grrrr
Has meant I have to stay up north!! Note to self - next time taking a contract in the North East make sure its in a town and not in the middle of nowhere. It's bloody cold here, -7 last night. I've not been able to get into work yesterday as a BMW 1 series with run flat, low profile tyres is just useless to go up even the slightest of inclines or any country roads. Also I think here they just grit the one main road - doesn't the council realise that they need to grit the residential roads too for us poor suckers from down south who have rear wheel drives.
I was hoping the snow would clear as it stopped about 5ish yesterday but restarted at 10pm. I am not a happy bunny as weekend plans are scrapped.. may walk 30 mins into the city centre to durham cathedral for eveningsong though... I should really see the place having been in the town for 7 months.
Renewal is up in Jan and I think this just reinforces the case of a rate review if one has to put up with a weekend here let alone the weekdays! Nevertheless , the people are much more nice and the food is lovely jubbly.
If I had friends here - I'd be having a snowball fight! Anyone else in Durham? or contracting in the North EastNever Never Never give upComment
