It appears Apple kept it cheap by saving costs on design - like not bothering. Instead they've left it looking bare - just a blank panel with one button on the front and a bare silver plate on the back.

So if they made it look good, that might have pushed the price up higher. Instead, they're passing the cost saving onto me, right?

I might buy three of them!
What kind of contractor are you, quibbling over a few quid? I bet you drive a Kia and do your grocery shopping in the Value section.
I know not everyone can aspire to £200/day but still.

            Cheapskate.

            £299,999 Platinum iPad

And yes, at those prices you'd think they could employ a half decent web designer.

True. That's a pretty shocking site, but may not be the designer's fault. It's probably just what the the proprietor wanted - "make it have more bling! and music! and gold!".

Anyway. I have an iPad and I'm not a gadget freak by any means, and I think it's great. I rarely carry my Macbook around now when I'm only travelling for a couple of days. I'm quite a keen photographer and it's ideal for that - and for music, watching films etc.

Not sure about the tariffs comment. Not bothered with the 3G as most places I need to go, wi-fi abounds.

I think it's a great bit of kit.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

It's not the theme of the site. It's the fact it has an intro video, the main page has another long video, and all the 'fancy' ui is really clunky/broken (for me anyway).

So, my next question is about Vendor Lock-in. Apparently, if I get an iPad, it comes with Vendor Lock-in as standard. Does this contribute to my security, peace of mind, deep-seated sense of contentment and inner calm?

Will it make me even happier than I already am?

                      Sounds good already

Joking aside, it's just a tech demo, albeit an extremely impressive one. The first game using the engine, Infinity Blade, should be out before Christmas.
