The other bit you're missing is that the Coalition are going to set an OVERALL benefit cap for any family at £500 per week. So even if they could get £400 per week - depending on the size of their house, they would have just £100 to spend on anything else they need to survive. That isn't really much when you have 2 adults and 3 or more kids to feed, cloth, keep warm, provide electricity, etc, etc.

So what? A life on welfare should be tough, at the moment it's not and that's the problem.

Yes but according to your previous post your implication was that newly-arrived immigrants/asylum seekers were responsible for most/much of the fraud.
That is not borne out by the above, so you were essentially making it up, much like the BNP does.

Let's get some perspective here. Your total is £26K a year untaxed, the equivalent of a salary of over £30K. That's a bloody good deal considering it is more than most of the working population earn.

I am not knocking people in genuine need. I just think it wrong that they should be better off than the taxpayers who are funding them. We all have to cut our cloth to fit our circumstances.
