I think part of the problem is that windows PC's are often in the hands of people who shouldn't be using a computer - the sort of person who goes to PC world and buys some bag 'o tulipe PC that was on offer for £299 but really was worth little more than the case it came in. They install everything that they can and cram it full of spyware etc. Apple computers are not used by this group because they are significantly more expensive.

Also windows PC's being by far the more numerous out there are targeted more by the virus/spyware writers

My PC has Windows 7 on it and it still runs really quickly, because I'm careful as to what gets installed on it. Even Vista, if it had a truck load of memory was ok.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

    I preferred version 1!

Do they have Mac's in Iran? Do you think Iranian nuclear scientists know they maybe in violation of Apples license agreement?

Even a supermarket special is a monster of a PC compared to what was high-end when XP came out. People installing loads of crap and leaving every single program running at once are more the problem. But people who don't know PCs are also prime Mac demographic.

Mainly the MS office/sharepoint/exchange functionality in a smart phone that's got all the iphone stuff (music/videos/apps) with internet. Office was the real clincher as I like to play with spreadsheets on the move (I know I know!) and being able to work on them on the move and sync with sharepoint is a big deal for me.

Got the HTC HD7 from o2 - some updates on experiences so far:

OS is very snazzy but not customizeable that I've found yet although I've been busy doing other stuff such as.....

....Trying to get my ^&*%ing numbers into Windows phone 7 is proving unbelievably annoying. First I had to sych my iphone contacts with outlook as there is no option to copy contacts to sim .

Then I had to download an outlook addon to enable hotmail in Outlook.

Then i had to copy my contacts (email/business contacts + numbers exported from the iphone) all into my windows live account.............

Now it appears that my Windows live contacts list is my only option for an address book in the phone

So I've imported all my numbers into my hotmail account and the flipper still hasn't synchronized them with the flipping phone...

Getting your numbers and contacts into the phone should not be such a pain in the proverbial. Also forcing me to use my Windows live account contacts as the only means of managing my phone address book is unacceptable. It has activesynch but that's only for exchange enabled mail accounts.

Also the only search engine is bing.

              Apart from that it's great...

I'll be expecting some hotfixes and patches pretty damn soon

I've worked on sites where this is still the rule, the security guys used to put a bit of blue sticky tape over the lens, they were getting through so much tape they now just ask you not to take pictures.

Reviews seem cautiously positive, IF you use Facebook and/or MS cloud stuff. Most of the complaints seem to be about things that would bother techies more than typical users.

Turns out I had to synch my laptop with Hotmail for the contacts to all upload - thought I did that this morning but no.. So contacts and numbers are now all on the phone - along with duplicates for email addresses and numbers for the same people...

Phone has crashed once and decided to reboot itself when i went into the connection settings.

It's very good at things like telling me what the weather is like in Tokyo at the moment, and the UI animations are very impressive. I do like Zune as well.

Another missing feature is shuffle on playlists - hotfix hotfix hotfix!

Tried a couple of games which are pretty good as well. I just hope the app market takes off soon.

It's not just me who found that ******* annoying then

Does the windows synch not do the job anymore of keeping your phone synched with outlook and other bits?
