Yep, I´ve had that one. Groin strains/tears can take a long time to heal as it´s almost impossible to rest them, as you´ve discovered. However, the most recent research suggests that stength training with an injury can actually aid quicker recovery. Don´t know though; I haven't tried that myself.
You need to establish what has actually happened. Is it a muscle injury or is a tendon injured? A physio might help you there. If you think it's a muscle strain then I have some questions to establish the grade of strain;
1 What did the pain feel like when it happened? How much pain, what kind of pain?
2 How long did the pain last?
3 Was there any swelling or bruising, either immediately or in the week after?
4 is there any visible deformity now?
1 no pain at the time. it just felt lax.
2 see 1
3 no
4 no
the pain first occurred when climbing some stairs the following day. first leg raise and bingo.
i guess having flu did not speed recover.
Hmm, difficult. At the precise moment it first happened, did it feel as if something hit your leg/groin? Like a small pebble or a pin?
no it just felt too tight. since then every time i sit up in bed, get off the couch or turn when walking it feels sore and tight. i think it is ligaments rather than muscle.

How many testicles have you got and were you kicked in the groin some time prior to the pain commencing?
