How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I know we cannot be classed as inventors, entrepreneurs and wealth creators but as flexible/highly skilled workers do we contribute to wealth creation?

As for "doers and grafters" it's like this. You can work hard, or you can work smart. I think that contractors are more likely to work smart, but they can put in the extra effort when required. Where we do slip up sometimes (and obviously I don't speak for all of us) is in self-promotion or sales. If we had the right sales qualities, we wouldn't need the pimps. And how often have we seen ways to dramatically improve the efficiciency or costs in a business, but been unabled to convince the people in charge to change? That's where the major consultancies (sometimes) clean up.Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on TwitterComment
