Like the pied piper of chavsville, should we really be encouraging this sort of thing?

The BBC has an obligation to educate, inform and entertain.

The fat prick fails on all counts IMO.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I wish they'd get rid of the Archers too. It always seems to be on when I'm in the car, both on outward and return journeys.

I'd wish they would hurry up and invent sky+ for car radios. Then you could set it to record the good stuff when you're sat in the office working late, rather than being stuck with the Archers and Front Row.

WHS. There do seem to be few devices that will record radio. I resorted to using the voice memo on a small radio for a while, to record such programmes as Material World, but that needed me to be present at the start of the programme. These days I just miss the good stuff and end up listening to the Archers, at least for the few seconds prior to my being able to reach the change channel or off button whilst simultaneously trying to remain conscious.

You're obviously a Radio 2 man or communist
I'll see your facepalm and raise you a shit:. IMO he is over paid. I don't do Radio 2 and am not a commie. You are obviously another 'fan' of the greasy turd.

Hauppage USB stick will allow you to record Radio in a PVR style. Can then whack them on to iPod or phone to listen to them in the car.

I'm not taking offence, it's not like I know the guy and you're the one who seems to have a personal bone to pick with him. As a listener I've heard him at length discussing the issue, AND the subsequent media hoo-hah. I'm a fan but even if I wasn't - if it was a CEO or a sports player or a DJ I don't like - my view would be the same. I can see the POV about not airing your laundry in public but those who don't like his habit of expressing his opinions openly probably aren't listeners and therefore, why do they care?

To complain to his listeners, when a lot of people have taken wage cuts or have lost their jobs, about him not being paid for a couple of months was unprofessional and made me think less of him. I have absolutely no sympathy for him. He is over paid. He may have more listeners but personally I don't see why any radio presenter should be paid that much from the licence fee. I really hope the delays in his being paid were due to his contract not being quite right and it being renegotiated down a good chunk.
He publicly stated he took a 20% cut a year or so back, again quite openly. But either way, what he's paid, what you think is a fair wage (interesting idea on contracting site ) and whether you like his show are all irrelevant, or should be in a sensible discussion.

I am not telling him what to do, but in the same way that if a Policeman moaned to me in public about his wages I would tell him to shut up and get on with his job.
I'd like to see that, it could make a good YouTube video...

                  Doogie.

Your post just reads Wah Wah Wah!

Just thought you'd like to know that.

If I knew what 'wah wah wah' was supposed to mean, then maybe. Crying? You can't understand the big words? Serious discussion is too boring for your tiny brain?

I am nor a listener and I care because it is obscene and offensive to me. I know that part of his act is to be offensive and obscene and that is why I don't get why a publicly funded body support him. Look at his track record as a sexist homophobe. I don't think there is any place for him on the airwaves and his recent display in regard to his not being paid and the unprofessional manner in which he used his show to complain about this reinforces my thoughts about him.

I expect he was told what his pay would be rather than him openly saying "Tell you what, just pay me 20% less next year." The difference between him and contractors is huge.

Why? As long as you don't swear or break any laws you can say what you want to the police. They are public servants and they should also be treated with the dignity that they deserve.
