I'd do anything to be able to genuinely introduce myself to new acquaintances as a Rotarian. I've been working towars it for a long time! -
I've had a few such invites for Masons, Round Table, Rotary etc. I usually let it be known that I gave up secret clubs and dens when I was about 8. That usually dries up the stream of invites.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostFunnily enough(true this)
Just been invited to a Masonic do next month in Windsor. Black tie, bring the wife etc
I have no idea what to expect. Do I need to roll my trouser leg up and buy some antlers & will I need to chuck my keys in a bowl?Guy Fawkes - "The last man to enter Parliament with honourable intentions."Comment

On a serious note, joining the Masons, Rotary etc. can be great for contractors who work away from home.
Btw GricerBoy, it's not a social leg-up.

I thought this thread was going to be part of your train journey epic.
I was expecting some saga about train being delayed, couldn't get a cab, when you did get one the driver turned out to be a member of alkey ada and held you hostage, etc.How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
