Why does it always have to be looked at job cuts?
A true capitalist would be looking at increasing revenue and/or cash inflow, as well as cutting costs. What about selling off the motorway network to toll operators (or leasing off)? Or selling off the Malvinas to the highest bidders - we'll have to let go when we no longer have much of a navy anyway.
We tell millions of northerners that they have to move to find work, so we shouldn't feel too bad about those 4,000 islanders. Although, come to think of it, maybe we'd get a lot more money for the Isle of Wight. If only we could get a serious party interested in taking over N.I.

      We should tax cat ownership.

And have feline cuisine as a tax deductible expense.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Don't want to upset the lessers - if you think the unions are bad...

Turn foreign aid to foreign development - tax relief on british companies providing infrastructure to third world.

Simplify tax system, fewer taxes more revenue.

Automate everything possible in public service and then reduce staff they can become policemen etc.

Make long term unemployed work for benefit. There are lots of things to be done that we can't afford to do because of labour cost. MOD properties, grafitti removal, prison building etc.

require £50k annual fee for each work permit.

Make sure foreign owners of companies can't avoid local tax.

Open public sector supply to small businesses. No more £700 light bulbs.

Replace quangos with internet voting panels, if fortune 500 companies can provide secure identification then so can the government.

Review PFI and fix a max gross profit then reduce costs.

create uniform specifications for IT systems that are representative of current systems but reviewed nationally via voting panels. Think ITIL for development.

put responsibility for things firmly on the managers shoulders lets have a few sackings 'to encourage the others' they might get their snouts out of the trough.

Cut fluff jobs. Its not just nurses in the NHS.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
