But how can you dislike the user unless you know them in the 'real world'? Surely you dislike their opinion/stance on a particular subject, not the person that posted it. I sometimes disagree with the actions and/or opinions of close family, but I don't dislike them as a result.

I agree with Gibbon - if someone annoys you that much, try to ignore them. Easier said than done sometimes mind.

I think it's possible to dislike someone on tinterweb, based on their style of posting. In fact, I know it's possible.

Not sure how you can 'hate' the person behind an Internet persona without meeting them. It's a bit like hating a TV celebrity because you see then on TV.

The posters persona has a certain level of Meme associated with it. You draw conclusions from posts or online arguments you have, buts it's virtual. It's like losing sleep over the fact someone insulted your character in World of Warcraft.

If a poster chooses to be an argumentive trolling pain in the ass as opposed to a dull trainspotter or bedwetter then in my opinion it's just a meme and no notice should be taken.

You are quite correct. Carry on as you are, safe in the knowledge that no notice is being taken.

I hate you all. Especially the thread starter, forgotten his name.

Pity the poor mod, who can't ignore anyone.

What's that I hear? Sympathy?... er... no.
