    The Afghan Mujahideen and the Taliban are pretty much the same group of people. I do not know why people are arguing against that on here.

        Mujahideen is collective name when they unite to fight against foreign occupation, before 9/11 they were fighting against each other as they usually do in brief periods between wars with foreign invaders.

          The Mujahideen were trained and equipped largely by the CIA duing the Cold War - the Taliban were created as a proxy force by Pakistan Intelligence Agency.

            It is still pretty much the same group of people no matter who or where they were trained and equipped from.
