    This seems to be something which has come from the States. I've done a lot of interviewing in my time and I've never had a thank you letter in the UK or China, but when I lived in the US I used to get them all the time. I found it creepy to be honest.

            I once sent a thank you email direct to the client after they offered me a role and I declined. I sent them the email to thank them for the offer and to explain why I'd declined it because I wasn't sure what bulltulip the agent would feed them as he was pretty annoyed I didn't take it and I didn't want him to ruin any potential future work at that client.

                  I only on very rare occasion bother with a covering letter, if they want my thanks, they can hire me (which they usually do!)
