I only on very rare occasion bother with a covering letter, if they want my thanks, they can hire me (which they usually do!)

I think this is only scenario when I would do it.Originally posted by Mr.Whippy View PostI once sent a thank you email direct to the client after they offered me a role and I declined. I sent them the email to thank them for the offer and to explain why I'd declined it because I wasn't sure what bulltulip the agent would feed them as he was pretty annoyed I didn't take it and I didn't want him to ruin any potential future work at that client.

Does the agency send you a thankyou letter for letting them represent you?

This seems to be something which has come from the States. I've done a lot of interviewing in my time and I've never had a thank you letter in the UK or China, but when I lived in the US I used to get them all the time. I found it creepy to be honest.

I did bring a box of Irish chocolates to the agent who got me my current gig. But they did pick me up from the hotel and take me to the interview, also did the same on my first day on client site. Oh and got me + £200 on my last rate.Originally posted by BolshieBastard View PostWTF!? Whatever next, send a box of chocolates to the agent for securing the interview in the first place?
I thank the agent verbally if they phone me back with feedback. Otherwise, just deal with it.

I would settle for a Mr Dyson level of accomplishment.

After a contract interview it seems a bit ingratiating and creepy, or at least that's what I would think if I were the client. In any case one should communicate via the agency (if going through one).Originally posted by Naaarwich View Post

For a permie interview, it may not be so clear cut. But it could still be misread, for example that you think the interviewers may forget you (indicating a lack of confidence in yourself or in their competence), or you feel you didn't get a chance to present a complete case at the interview (which again is an implicit criticism of you and/or the interviewers).
