Nope. You don't kill a chicken for its eggs or a cow for its milk.

You might want to look into milk production methods and commercial farming of chickens.

Cows only produce milk when they have had a calf. Male calves are usually surplus to requirements since they are no good for raising for meat. They generally end up as dog food within a week.

Comercial chicken farms will slaughter hens over a certain age as they are no longer capable of producing eggs at the rate demanded. Dog food again, as they are no good for meat.

This applies even to those farms certified by the RSPCA etc. No actual cruelty involved, but not much in the way of warm fuzziness towards the animals either.

I'm not veggie, I will happily eat steak and eggs for breakfast with a glass of milk on the side. I do think people should be aware of what they are eating and what is involved in getting in front of them on their plate.

Wasnt taking a pop, just pointing out that even stuff like milk and eggs involves animals ending up dead as a result.

The ovo/lacto brigade annoy me by thinking that somehow their option is more acceptable. If you dont want to eat food that involves animals dying to provide it then go properly veggie, not some crap halfway house.

Fruitarian

I myself am a fruitarian, I see no good reason why a poor living thing should be torn violently from it's place of growth or mother plant and I therefore only eat fruit that has fallen naturally from a tree.
I should mention that there is a shocking amount of prejudice against my chosen eating regime, you try to find out the origin of the fruit in a smoothie...
