Then I think that the model of pay and remuneration that was used by the USSR and is currently used in the civil service should be applied vigorously to the private sector and in particular plumbers.

I agree even more now. We should extend civil service pay and structures to all sectors of the economy as soon as possible. The sooner everyone is graded by the state into acceptable earning bands the better. There's nothing makes me more sick than seeing an affluent plumber - they clearly have to be reminded of their place in society, forcibly if necessary.

Looks like Dundee and Mailman have to give way to new village idiots.

I agree with Dodgy and, therefore, with AtW.

Unless the state decides fairly and objectively who should earn what, we will have the iniquitous situation of people who do not deserve to do so earning more than others. For example as is currently the case with plumbers. That seems only fair to me so I do not understand why the insults are necessary.

Admittedly I thought differently to begin with, but AtW's superior reasoning and argument have won me over, for which he should be applauded. As Zeitghost will tell you, it is rare indeed for someone to get the Master to change his mind.

You turned serious discussion into monkeying around.

The matter of fact is that in legal profession a number of strange rules prevents supply from increasing and therefore it allows to maintain very high pricing levels that are simply not affordable to most people in this country.

You are switching the debate from plumbers to the safer territory of lawyers. Why?

These separate industries exhibit very similar signs of lack of competition that results in a very high prices in which cost of actual materials is very low.

I thought that we had agreed that the state should intervene and dictate how much plumbers (and therefore I suppose lawyers) should charge? So what is your problem?
