You might want to consider Ireland if prodigious amounts of rainfall is a factor.

By the way, which island was that...........Arran?...............Bute?

I would definitely suggest hiring a car when you get there - public transport is not great.

I'd also suggest going to Camelford. Not because it's great or anything but my dad owns a shop there and if you buy anything from it he'll make money...

A word of warning, you need to go through a toll booth to get in Cornwall, they let you go in free but charge you to go out!

If you are the walking types, try costal paths near the Looe and Polperro areas. Nice little fishing villages and excellent scenery.

Not totally true. You only get charged for coming back across the Tamar Bridge from Saltash into Plymouth on the A38. Even then it is a piffling £1.50. If you come back via the A30 then it is free. Still a lot better than having to pay to get INTO Wales!!!

On the bridge at Plymouth? You can take another route, though it might not be worth the effort.

And I've never been but heard recommendations for the Lost Gardens of Heligan, if you like gardens.

I was in Padstow last year on the motorbike and went in the local pasty shop and asked for a Large Cornish Pasty, I think that is the first pasty shop that could not be done under the trade descriptions act, as the it was f'ing enormous. I would guess a foot long on the straight edge.

Knocked it back no problem though.

Reccomend a trip to Porthcurno too, the Victorian Internet and a cracking beach too. Right next to the Miniack Open Air Theatre

(Oggies being the local name for oversized pasties generally sold to lardy tourists rather than locals )
