We are coming down from Scotland so the thoughts were sleeper to London, the a day there with the sleeper down to Cornwall it is almost an easy travel. Was considering central europe through the tunnel but we have kind of done that plenty of times.

Cornwall is appealing because it is, I think, something like the west coast of Scotland where I grew up, marine environment, sea food type of place which I love.

Might take you up on that, what is the inter village public transport like? We could take the car down but really it will probably be easier just to hop between 3 locations spending a couple of nights at each place by public transport. Might hire a car for a day or 2.

Just adults, or kids with you as well? (I'd recommend a good central farm location if you have kids)

You can locate yourself centrally in Cornwall and get to most places.

          I do recommend Marazion

and a show at the Minack theatre

I used to live a mile from St. Michael's Mount, very nice there. Next town along is Penzance (which isn't much) then just around the bay is Mousehole (pronounced Maus-ole or Marseole), only a few minutes' drive between each.
You're pretty near the bottom of Cornwall from here, St. Ives definitely worth a visit as is Lands End & The Lizard, and to be honest, just about any bit of coastline around there.

Falmouth is nice, you can get a boat-trip up the Fal through very nice wooded valleys to a little pub, I forget the name.

If you get the chance, look up a place called Kynance Cove, it's like something from a Famous Five story.

Whole county is pretty beautiful but a bit dull in the rain. And in holiday season it's very busy indeed.

No kids, next year life as I know it will be over though.

Girl will want 5 star places, I let her go for her spa days while I take the camera out and discover small pubs on day long walks.

Those pics look exacty the deal I'm looking for.

Oh... take a trip to Scilly Islands. Absolutely stunning especially if you get a little boat to any island except St. Mary's, the only one with roads and cars. St. Agnes/Gugh are two islands joined by a Sandbar, Tresco has amazing gardens, Bryher has the Hell Bay Hotel, Sampson is uninhabited... we sailed there one year and had the whole island to ourselves once the day trip boats left.

You can get a boat (2hr) or helicopter (20min) from Penzance, or I think a toy plane from somewhere.

Cheers, I will note these places down.

I grew up in an island off the West Coast of Scotland where it rains 70% of days, if I can get better than that then I will be happy.
