    If I have one issue, it would be that there was a bit of a queue at my usual coffee and croissant vendor. It's not a big deal as the guy recognised me and my usual order was prepared by the time I got to the front.

    I sat outside on the short ferry journey across the river as it's such a lovely day.

        Train was crowded this morning and we all ended up packed into the quiet carriage and I suspect some our number weren't aware of the regime that operates within. There were some particularly techy people in there today - even by normal quiet carriage standards. I heard 3 complaints from 3 separate individuals;

        1) Um, excuse me - I don't think the whole carriage wants to hear your phone conversation, this is the quiet carriage, please switch it off (fair enough I suppose).

        2) Um, excuse me - can you refrain from clattering your keyboard so loudly? (FFS?)

        3) Um, excuse me - can you keep your voices down, this is the quiet carriage. This to 2 women who were just having a chat. Couldn't believe the whingeness of this one. At least one of the women gave the soulless individual who raised the complaint a bit back & said "sorry if our harmless conversation has offended you. We will try not to breathe for the next 80 minutes for fear of disturbing you". I had to laugh - not out loud of course.

        You really do get some precious individuals in that carriage. And what is it about any utterance preceded by the phrase "um, excuse me" ?

                  Do you say that in a Cockney/Londoner "I know what it really means" way?

                  or in a Mummys Boy "I said a rude word" way??

                      It always amazes me how people shamelessly push into get onto the train first in order to get a seat. I've pretty much got it down to a T now - I know exactly where to stand on the platform so that the carriage door comes to a stop more or less in front of me. Then people from further up the platform begin to converge and there are always some weasely types who push in from the side. Normally they are rather pusilanimous looking men in hi vis coats with their bike helmets still on but the most shameless pushers in are young attractive women. Presumably because they think they can get away with it. Well, here's news for you - try that on me and you'll get a kick in the shins just as hard as I give to all those quiet carriage, spandex wearing, holier than thou eco freaks when they do it. Be warned.
