30 second walk to home office, no delays, part from NorPuss obstruction on laptop

Journey to work: Train 5 minutes late. No time to grab croissants at the station, so stayed on the bus for another stop to acquire said items. Gave elderly lady the equivalent of Coop stamps that came with that purchase and she was suitably delighted. Young cashieresse very impressed.

Bus from office on the way home: Driver did a well executed U-turn rather than the normal reversing bit. We nearly lost that bus stop late last year when some busybody observed that buses weren't supposed to reverse without a second member of staff behind the bus to give the driver the OK.

Train home: sat opposite buxom young lady who had a somehow dodgy half price pass for the ticket she had bought. The ticket inspector accepted her promise to get it sorted at the next ticket counter she came across.

Due to lack of car at present my journey consisted of staggering across the landing to my study; log on webmail to show attendance then off to shower & find coffee

9:30 meeting 5 minutes walk from home with a new client plus one of my colleagues. Successful meeting. After that we had time to kill before the next train, so had an indifferent coffee and a sandwich apiece. Bought better sandwiches at a local supermarket.

Trundle Train. On time as always.

Too early for bus so we went pricing up coffee machines for the colleague.

It was a pleasant change having someone to natter to on the way to work.

Train home: just got to an open door and it slammed shut on me. Couldn't open it and train set off, so had to wait 7 minutes for the next train. Not a great problem.

I kid you not, Herr Flick was waiting for a train going in the other direction this morning.

Full length black leather coat. Wide brimmed hat. Metal specs.

He didn't limp though, so maybe it was a close relative.

My train on time as usual. Heating on and no weirdos. Nice warm bus.

Light hail and cold wind at both stations.

He only puts on the limp for TV. It was probably him.

                argh!

My train journey this morning started an hour later than normal as a result of my having forgotten to set my alarm. This was compounded by my then jumping on the wrong train and taking an hour long detour around Manchester. Argh!

Leeds station used to specialise in that. Two trains at one platform, close enough together you could mistake them for one train. I ended up going to Wakefield instead of in the Manchester direction once (and having to go back to Leeds and start again).

                  I didn't do that again.

And many years later, after being a dirty stopout in Leeds, I got a train which landed me close to work rather than going via home for a change of clothes. Fortunately smart scruff was OK at that client.

Arrived at station car park to find half of it had been taken over by caravans & white Transit vans advertising paving and uPVC windows & guttering.

May drive tomorrow just in case of delays due to cable theft
