DON'T DO ANY WORK ON YOUR LAST DAY

This is not laziness, it's because you know you're going to get loads of interruptions - mainly people taking the last opportunity to ask you stuff - so whatever you start wouldn't get finished and you'd be leaving a load of loose ends. Usually the only way to achieve this is to plan not to do any work in your last whole week, so that by mid-morning Friday you've genuinely cleared all your tasks and can devote those last hours to getting your timesheet signed, stealing stationery and clearing your personal filespace of absolutely everything that could make you look like a twerp.

Or better still - nick it the week before!

Had 4 at lunch, then 1 top up at 3oclock, and I've just signed a new 6 month contract. It's your last day, who gives a f....

Correction, should read i've had 4.5 pints now who is buying the next

FFS its ur leaving do, suprised u even made it to lunchtime, do as most do (well certainly me) get timesheet signed and head off with close working consultants and have one bang on 11am and consume like its going out of fashion, (ie drink til the permies go back and leave the contractors to drink the company profits)

OK, I feel I need to clarify the situation.

            a) It was actually 1hr 17mins I am reliable informed.
            b) It was Deuchars IPA I was drinking
            c) The people in the office who noticed the quantity I had quiffed, were the ones buying me the last pint. Ironically, one of them is the HR co-ordinator for the datacentre.
            d) I returned to the office
            e) I didn't work in the slightest (is undocking my laptop and handing it in counted as work?)

I posted the thread because whilst all my colleagues thought 4.5 pints was entirely acceptable, some others didn't. I wanted to gauge your opinions, not get lectured by some half wit with a HSE manual.

That IS his opinion, you tard.

Rule #1: don't be the one who drinks the most. Ideally, drink less than whoever is the 'boss'
Rule #2: only you know the lay of the land where you work. But, breathing beer fumes when you bump into your "boss'" boss is impolite

I think he had to be escorted back without finishing the last pint. Or he threw it over his boss while trying to hum him and explain how much he loved him and he was the best boss ever.

It's the law to get pissed on your last day. I'm sure you put in plenty of overtime. These ****** that pass comment are obviously knobs. Rise above it and keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep invoicing (as DP said once)

Good luck with the gig hunting.

                    And relax. Have a beer
