It's a tool to get the system to do what it's supposed to do. Hate code monkeys who change code around to look pretty and introduce bugs, flipping amateurs.

So no, real IT people got the cheaper product and maximised the hell out of it.
Yep £399 quid if remember correctly, family financial circumstances restircted me to a Commodore 64, learnt Basic and Assembler, set me up quite well.

                0. Which is the first computer you wrote a program for?
IBM 4361 - EXEC2 or REXX - "Ops Support Type Program" (ie Hack/Bodge)
... probably FOCUS for some sort of "App".... A menu sort of thing that ran query/reports....

                1. Which is the first computer you owned?
I honestly don't remember - but many many years later
                2. How many langauges have you seriously programmed in (work or play)?
Hacking Ops type bodgy stuff..... loads and loads - Not sure if JCL, CLISTs, ENDEVOR Processors, Infoman, and stuff "count" as "Programing Languages" and as to 123, Dataease, Excel n VB stuff and endless numbers of "Scripting" stuff........ who knows.... I always smile when people seem to think IT means Programming/Developer

                3. How many years have you made a living out of IT (programming or otherwise).
                30ish
                4. Do you enjoy programming or is it a chore?
I enjoy "problem solving" and that can sometimes be achieved by coding.......
Never considered myself (or wanted to be considered) a "Coder"

                5. Do you know what vi is and have you used it?
Well Yes and Yes but not to any great extent.... but I can use (or learn) many basic tools/editors if the need arises I can (or to be honest could) generate and amend text files from quite a few "command line interfaces"... PrimeOS, ROSCOE, PrimeINFO, DOS/Edlin or even copy con, CP, VM/SP/CMS etc
And yes, support people, PMs etc etc - you're not real IT people.
Is that intended as a compliment... or an insult?
