The Observer yesterday commented that Cameron must now fear not just defeat (which looks likely), but also that Labour will get back in with a deal with the LibDems, a deal that would see proportional representation, which would mean there would be no Conservative majority government ever again.

Never mind the public sector, what do the Tories offer the average grunt on <20k? Their pay packet will hardly change no mater who gets in, why should they care?

The Tories needed to offer real hope of prosperity if they want to get elected, in the eyes of Mr average all they are offering is financial pain and cuts in public services so it's hardly surprising he is nonplussed by a 'rich boy' and his cronies.

I'm not making a case for any party, it's just how I see it.

Unfortunately the Tories attitude to inherited wealth is a dead giveaway that at best they will simply leave public services as they are, but with a bit less money.

Someone on £20k needs to be reassured that affordable housing is in available, that they dont have to worry about schools for their children (some consumer choice would be good here) that the police are effective and that the health service works for them. None of these are so far likely to happen under any of the parties.
