    Trouble selling a house

I have a house that’s been valued at about 1.1 million quiddles. My buyer is asking me to drop the price to 999,995 quiddles and says he’ll give me cash for the other 100 grand. What possible motivation could he have for this request?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

"On a property worth £1 million the stamp duty bill will rise from £40,000 to £50,000 from April 6, 2011." Not.

When your profit is running at 17000% (yes, 17 with three zeros after it) you kinda run out of time to spend it.

My dad bought a large country house in Spain that came with a new 4x4, apparently the price was just under some limit that saved him quite a bit in tax.

Quite lucky really as he was after a new 4x4.

There are rumours about reducing tax relief for +€1m homes here? It's on the table for the next parliament and it would be a popular move. The natives are canny - I'd guess he's playing it safe and keeping under the million euro mark just in case.
Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.
