The reason Airbus is viable is that its a reasonable competitor to Boeing.

I hate "stab in the back" myths, they stop us addressing our weaknesses by looking for scapegoats.
I was talking about TSR2 and Concorde not the Comet, but thanks for your nasty intervention.

Propped up on a couple of bricks and shot to pieces with an air rifle?

Thats what happened to most of mine in the end.

I thought the Yanks wanted us to buy the F-111, not that they wanted the TSR-2...

Anyway, at least we could go on to use the TFR on the Tornado...

Aye. Dunno what happened to all my Airfix models. Parents must have chucked 'em.

I did see a real Lightning once, mounted on a stand outside a factory in Lancashire.

This was while I was still at school. For some reason firearms were ok, but explosives were not

When not adequately supervised we would entertain ourselves by taking potshots at eachother with cotton cleaning pellets. The only reason there were no serious injuries was a gentlemans agreement not to take headshots

Concorde is what happens when you let the goverment decide the direction of technology, a complete waste of money making something nobody wanted.

Sadly labour never learned and came back with a whole new bunch of useless technology projects.

The EE Lightning was a phenominal aircraft. Held the (fastest to?) altitude record for years maybe still does.

Used to drink fuel for fun though.
