    I agree with NF's suggestion.
Rename General the "Bear Pit" and stick it at the bottom rather than the top.
The Bedwetting Thread for Fluffy Bunnies can be the top one.

    Simples.

Yep - Nick's suggestion is good.

Although maybe the main categories should be 'Professional' and 'Unprofessional'...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

While giving up CUK for Lent, I have been reading about the pros and cons of the East/West division of the Roman empire under Diocletian, so NickFitz's divide-and-rule principle is one with which I can basically sympathise.

I think you only need one 'non-serious' forum to cover the current "General" and "Light Relief" - most popular thread in General by miles is "Word Associations" which surely surely should be in LR if there was any meaningful difference between the two. That forum could then be abandoned to the Goths.

Accounting/Legal and Technical are good as they are. Then either expand Business/Contracts, or create a new "contracting affairs" forum to include the 10% of General topics that really are "of interest to IT contractors".

tell you what though, rather you than me!

That is very true. General can also be a valuable source of British humour for those working abroad.
