Rep works well on other forums. You can't give rep until you've made a number of contributions in serious subforums. And the amount you can give or take away is limited according to how much you have, and a daily quota. Tit-for-tat repping would be against the T&Cs.
There's also groan and thank buttons, which can be limited to subforums. Where both systems are used, you tend to find the rep system is less abused. And a groan from someone you don't like is taken as a badge of honour!Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

I've never seen any personal attacks on other users. I've never seen any defamatory, obscene, indecent, lewd, pornographic, violent, abusive, insulting, threatening or harassing comments. I've never seen anyone stray from the discussion topic.
Thank goodness for the T&Cs - they'll save the board!Hard Brexit now!

With the likes of AtW, SB, MF and Churchy in the mix, that's likely to make the Adams family look like the Osmonds.Hard Brexit now!

Someone in a different thread had suggested that having a title structure that starts with newbies being "Not worth listening to" didn't necessarily endear the site to new posters.
When this version of the board was first being set up, there were a few suggestions about what they should be, for example:
