My sockies were all ferreted out. I needed to become a mod to unban them all. I really miss RandyW. And GandhiW. And CandyW. And SandyW. I have one more who isn't banned, but I can't remember its password, or the disposable e-mail address I signed it up with

so are you implying that the new mods may use their new found powers to influence the musings of this forum for their own ends??

Doesn't bother me that much to be honest as long as they are objective.

But I reckon they'll start posting less the more they have to read on here... I think it'll settle down.

I think it may have been better for the new mods to be anonymous, as being a mod will undoubtedly lay their posts open to more criticism than us mere mortals. Although I guess that would have caused its own conspiracy/favouritism theories!

I am afraid I don't agree with these, not particularly because I have a view either way but more because of how other social group/community type management works.. Examples

My block of flats has a management company and the director is the person that is most bothered and interested in the upkeep of the flats.

Fan clubs tend to be run by the most ardent and involved fans

Neighbourhood watch schemes tend to be run by the street busy bodies who are most involved in watching the neighbours...

                Examples ad infinitum....

You can't really have leading people put themselves forward for these types of roles if they are not involved and interested in the topic in hand. Nothing worse than occasional manager who doesn't have a finger on the pulse and is actively doing what he has signed up for.

IMO an anonymous mod with who occiasionaly comes in and does what he does and then goes is total fail. How would that work in the other examples.

I would also say it isn't uncommon for these groups to be a little unstable and can devolve in to bun fights for one reason and another, mainly due to the nature of it being volunteer based by people who are interested and NOT always by people that should. I think we should cut everyone that bothered to offer to help some slack. There will be inconsistent views, opinions and also a bit of favourtism etc... thats just how it is. We should be big enough to understand that to some extent.

Brilliant!! And the whole point of bringing in new mods was because too many infringements of the T&Cs were occurring. Perhaps this was because the previous mods were not spending enough time on here to observe that. Ever considered that Sherlock?
Let's give them a chance shall we?

                      That's a tremendously time-consuming and thankless job.
