i think you're on the right lines Alexey, with the plan to buy him another s reg A3, same colour, etc and take his off his hands, you could then buy some spanners, break his one up and sell the parts on ebay, maybe if you go to an auction you might get the A3 even cheaper so you could buy two incase the first one that you give him has a problem. Don't forget it'll be best to SORN the cars which are kept for spares. Also maybe take someone who knows about these things to the auction house with you.

will these psycho foreign drivers be hounded off the road?
      Shocking, absolutely shocking.
You drive slowly because you can't afford more points on your license and you still hit people. Tsk tsk tsk.
      Why not?

Yes Milan I think this would make sense especially if price quoted is above 3k - I mean ffs, I'd rather add 1k on top and get his car that works fine, it even looks undamaged, ffs.

Sounds like only Audi has the Jig necessary to check the alignment of the chassis, if it is out then that would justify a higher cost.

2 years ago someone rear ended me in a Fiesta, no real damage evident. But a quick visit to a Ford dealers revealed about £300 of damage.

Legally the driver you hit can insist on the repair being done at his favourite garage (Unless stated otherwise in his insurance cover)
By the way even if the damage was barely visible the bumper and the anchoring could have bent..I cannot belive you are moaning if you hit the car from behind slow or fast , you still hit it and that is more than likely your fault..........That's why we have insurance.

Its my fault - no question about. What I am moaning about is ridiculous rates charged by garages - and its not even possible to have confidence they are not making up work. This is seriously bent situation that is totally disproportional to damage to the car, i mean ffs, if its a complete write off then cost of buying new is 3500-4000.

I would not be suprised to see quote exceeding cost of car now

                >Try asking to see 3 independant quotes for the repair first

He has no right to ask. His insurance company will foot the bill, not him. If they want to query it, fine, but my guess is they won't. Similar thing happened to me about 15 years ago. I bumped a Fiesta at less than 10mph, slightly grazing the bumper, and the garage quoted for major structural damage (over £1200). My guess is they fitted a new bumper (say £200) and kept the rest. Can't prove it though. As someone else said, get your no-claims protected as soon as you can.
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

I could do it in a year time, many insurance companies wont protect you unless you have 4 years, some will protect but charge so much for their insurance in the first place that it was not very attractive.

Well, there is still a small chance its just bumper, so that's £800 I will be not very happy to pay, but much happier than worse case scenario

That's what I'm taliking about....and there could be additional costs added such as hire car cost while the damage is being repaired+bodily damage claims...it' really doesn't have to be a high speed shunt to get whiplash.....

you wait 'till Alexey has his British passport, the gentlemanliness will be thrown out of the window

yep, at the end of the day Alexey, you drove into him

what are you living on these days, are you contracting or doing any money paying work ?

i saw the discussion on your website about profit from the search engine and although you made a valid case for the success of the product being judged first by the number of users before any consideration can be given to commercial aspects, I couldn't help but remember the old Alexey who aimed for a bullet proof X5 and ruling the world from his billionaire status
