I dont want to see the guy banned, I dont want to see anyone banned, but the idea that he is now rendered harmless because he has done his porridge is a bit daft in my mind.

The only real solution (now we know it's a home for people with Mental Illness) is to be careful what information you divulge on CUK. Or at least treat everyone with some suspicion, I mean having to go into hiding is quite inconvienient now matter how liberal you are.

As a side issue have wondered for some time if there is a sizable contingency logging in from institutions, it would explain a lot.

or do you assume that you should divulge everything about yourself safe in the knowledge that this is a public forum that lurkers who don't even have to register can read and i'm sure if they wanted to gain various details about you to work out who you are.. if a person wanted to. I'm assuming you already know this however otherwise why didn't you add your full address in your profile and use your real name instead of Bagpuss..

even if a user was banned there would be absolutely nothing stopping them reading this forum without ever logging in.. and even if that were possible by somehow blocking the ip address to the site, we all know that google takes a matter of seconds to trawl this site and include it in their search engine so how do you propose to stop that??

IIRC, everyone who wanted to, got their money back from justgiving - it wasn't like the money went into his pocket.

It wasn't a case of wanting our money back - beacuse we paid through Justgiving we knew it went to them/the charity and not him.

Justgiving simply refunded us the money without explaination - if we'd not known what was going on from CUK, we wouldn't have been any the wiser TBH - RH can confirm this - he and I were in the same boat.

It's all about trust, forget the banning issue. My feeling was this is a bulletin board for contractors to discuss issues, have a bit of a laugh, assume like minded people, or have some banter. It certainly used to be or what I took it to be, It's a shame the level of trust has gone and it's attracted/attracting more nefarious types. I expect you will tell me it's always been that way, but I don't think it has, so the question is..... Is this what you want?

Personally it's just another reason not to post very often. Yeah Yeah, I'll shut the door on my way out!
