Open Letter to Menelaus

I have had a PM and telephone call about this situation from another CUK member.

As a result I feel less supportive of Menelaus.

That said I do feel safer with him posting under his usual account.

Perhaps the compromise is that we let him alone to post freely under the Menelaus account, and this should indicate to us that we need to treat the post with caution.

On the other hand I treat any posts on here with the utmost disbelief anyway
so it makes no odds to me anyway.

IIRC, everyone who wanted to, got their money back from justgiving - it wasn't like the money went into his pocket.

From my point of view the guy is a problem when you do not know who he is.

I called a vote some time ago over the banning of a user. I felt pretty rubbish about that afterwards and I am not about to do that again. If the overriding feeling here is that his presence is not welcome then I have the guts to admit I am wrong and ban the ID.

I've just reread the thread that Bagpuss started about CUK descending into pack mentality from 2007 FWIW, I don't think you are wrong to not ban Menelaus, however (as always) banning decisions should be your / ferret / sp's decision rather than what the baying pack believes.

If members on here have suffered actual harrassment or had fraud commited against them by another board member, they (the perp) should not be welcomed back. I don't care if they are punnished for it. How do we know the perp is not getting off on it? How do we know this won't lead to some sort of retribution if said perp was at a meet?

This issue is not the same as a poster being banned for overstepping the line in the virtual world by name calling etc. , ultimately that means nothing.
