Well it's looking likely that there will be a hung parliment and then a LIB-LAB pact. Welcome back to the past. -

We only ever learn one thing from history: that we never learn anything from history.Originally posted by threaded View PostThose who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment

Cameron detoxed the tories. Perhaps that is all he is good for.
Personally I think he's not too bad, and a fairly good presenter, but his policy unit needs a big kick up the arse. They are making monkeys of themselves by announcing pointless policies and changing others.
Christ, there are people on here who could make a better fist of it, and I don't mean cybertory.

He's got light weight chancellor - Osborne, he should have had the guts to kick him out and get Ken Clarke in. He kind of did it but in a way that is only hurting him.Comment

Ken Clarke is a rabid Eurofanatic. If he did that, the Tories would start fighting over Europe again.Originally posted by AtW View PostHe's got light weight chancellor - Osborne, he should have had the guts to kick him out and get Ken Clarke in. Maybe John Redwood, or Norman Tebbit for chancellor. Either of them would put the cat among the pigeons.

Considering the markets have been pricing in a decisive Tory victory followed by draconian moves to get the budget deficit down for the past year it’s going to be very interesting to see how they react to the possibility of another Brown led government.
I presume the media will make the consequences of a Sterling crisis and a buyers strike in the gilts markets crystal clear to the electorate - £1.50 a litre at the petrol pumps and much higher mortgage rates should focus voter’s minds wonderfully when they go to the polls.Comment

Agree he's the weak link. He's hardly done any 'real' work in his life and the main reason for being in the cabinet seems to be the fact that he went to Eton - something that I do find distasteful about Cameron's leadership - sure Eton is a fine educational establishment and will naturally produce a large number of high fliers, but there must be some bright people that didn't go there.Originally posted by AtW View PostHe's got light weight chancellor - Osborne, he should have had the guts to kick him out and get Ken Clarke in.
