That is true for too damn many MPs, especially in the cabinet / shoadow cabinet. They are career politicians who have never held down a real job or had proper life experience.

Once upon a time you were expected to have achieved something with your life before even standing as an MP.

"I studied law / economics, then failed to get a job but I'm a good bulltulipter and a smarmy bastard so I went into politics" does not strike me as a good reason to run a country.

It is certainly not a good reason to vote for someone.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

Yeah, don't want the likes of Pitt the Younger.

I haven't got a problem with Eton old boys in the government.

Better them than ship stewards, shop stewards, lecturers in politics, and students from Fettes who sat at the Gallowgate end at the age of two watching Jackie Milburn.

The media are unlikely to do that. The media for the masses anyway.

It's best that that it happens and then smart arses (like me) can go around saying "I told you so" and get probably get lynched.

I've got no sympathy for the British people anymore. They were warned by loads of people, but ignored them.

I say, "you voted for 'em, now live with what you have done".
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
