Getting back to normal now, but has been 3 months of sheer hell. Apparently.
    Luckily I'm home based now.

Lucky you, I've been on the East midland line, so it hasn't been so bad, but the 2 hour trek in every day is carp to say the least.

Bench time has beem much appreciated.

Not back in the UK until middle of March - after that could do Friday evenings from 7(ish) within about 15 miles of Luton assuming gig doesn't muck me about.

ok suggest we go ahead as planned and arrange another one for the Spring.

In which case this skews the preferred location to Bedford.

          Is this ok guys?

Recommendations for good ales pubs nearish the station in Bedford within vomitting distance of a good curry house?

When I say "scruffy" I don't mean down-and-outs - just people like me

It seems from the BITE link that the front has now opened up. I would strongly advise heading down the side alley and into the surprisingly-large-but-narrow back room (which is all there used to be).

It used to be a Greene King house: from what the BITE page says, this has changed. Nonetheless, if it still has the same crowd going there, the ale must still be good

Except The Bear. Seriously, it's the only place on the High Street I would ever have risked going in; when I first did (having been told of it by some other scruffy hippy I chatted to at one of those festivals they used to do by the river), I was delighted to find that there was actually a pub in the centre of Bedford that wasn't just a hotbed of grief waiting to happen

Dunno, the words High and Street coupled with Bedford make me uneasy. Waddya reckon Norr?
