Sas,
Berlin is one of the many European destinations I have lived and worked in.
Berlin is indeed an interesting city, if you like HUGE geographically spread out cities
'the lifestyle is the best of any capital city in Europe, and its close enough to centres of work like Frankfurt.
'
close enough to Frankfurt if you like flying !!!
you want to live in 39k euro studio apartment in your twilight years with a toilet in the corner of the room ?
Tarkers,
what about Antwerpen ?

When I think of this, I do try not to confuse different lives. A place good for contracting work now, might not be good for "retirement", whatever that is. I have no problem with that. But I do have a problem assessing a place to retire to in terms of its convenience for work; or conversely a place to live while working, in terms of a life without work.
As for "living out my twilight years", stuff that. Living death holds no interest.Step outside posh boyComment

I stayed in a merde hot apartment in Townsville, palm trees, parrots, looking out over the Coral sea.
£45 per night, deals for long stay
6 months = 7.5k
if we sold the house we could live there for 20 years
i just got to sell it to the missus first

Rob Grays life seems to be fab.
However, he is blogging less and less nowadays it seems.
Maybe he has gone completely ferrel, maybe he is bored with life on the road.
Maybe everything loses is glitter when it is used. Maybe even lives without responsibilities become dull and pointless if lived for long enough....Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.Comment

Tarkers,
what about Belgie ?
I consider it to be a hidden gem.
We are brainwashed in the UK that there's nothing in Belgie
but infact it is a gem of:
architecture
history
culinary delights
beer
the cost of living in the Antwerpen region is low, you would be a short hop from the Ardennes and Luxembourg
you could find work in Brussels, plenty of contracts there
or fly out of brussels and contract else where
Antwerpen for me, is Sasguru's Berlin. (I guess his Mrs is a kraut, something he has never shared with his friends here)
