I agree. But I am not sure whether I need one or not. I know I haven't in the past.

You would need to decide whether you need a REAL place of residence, and how often you need to return to it. And, I suppose, why.

I don't think it is, it's just about being comfortable. Mostly about have around you all the tons of stuff that most of us seem to have. Or at least having some place somewhere it the world where it is kept.

I will tell you exactly what I am thinking. I too want to emigrate, but my motives differ from TF and SG. I just want a quiet time working in the sun, with the odd adventure thrown in.
I cant get to my chosen destination easily, Oz , because we are too old, but I was toying with the idea of spending six months in Oz and six months elsewhere, using the travel visa. But then you would lack a firm base
