Atw I am referring to the fact that the majority of terror attacks are carried out by radical islamic extreemists. Why is this not true with other religions?

Some religions are more peaceful in nature, say buddism. The ideal solution in my view is developing definitive proof that there is no God as defined in most common religions, but this is some time off.

Many, if not most stay clear of them. Terrorists are not that numerous, and clearly they try to minimise number of people who know about them, thus taking help from a very limited number of people. It is probably that number is no more than 0.01% of all Muslims.

I agree that terrorists are extreemly rare, and that the vast majority of Muslims are great people, but why is there this huge contrast in Islam? There are some of the most peacefull people, and the most dangerous behind the same religion. How can this be possible? Surely this cannot be good for Islam in general.

There are always extremists -- it just so happens that Islam as the religion, plus history of crusades and current events in Palestine, help aggravate this problem.

Lets see:
Christian extreamist policy: Sod terror tactics just invade the whole country or mass gencide
Jewish extreamist policy. They prefure missile attacks against unarmed civilians
Islamic extreamist policy: Terror bombing tactics

None of the 3 major middle east/western religions can take a "holyer than thou" position, they all have oceans on blood on their hands.

Only reason Islamic exteamists are so much on our minds right now is because they are currently active (and in many ways with genuine greivences) and more importantly we are the targets.

Main problem with these monotheism type religions is they create a very "us and them" mindset, this combined with the fact that each views themselves as "god's chosen" (and thus superior and always right) will always lead to conflict

I think Muslims the world over need to stand up and take responsibility for the mess their religion has become.

Sure they should, but hey lets be fair and give them the same time we gave the christians, like only took them a few centuries to admit the crusades/inquisition/supporting slavery and such were wrong.

This is posturing against the West using excuses. Once the excuses are removed there will be another reason to carry on.

Yep, some will always find a reason to continue fighting. But that should not mean we should go out of our way to give them the best recruiting propoganda imaginable out there and thats definatly what happened with Iraq and been happening for years with Isreal and the wests support for it.

Like lets turn the situation around and play "what if", many around the world (including people in UK) don't really like the US and it's policys (justifiably) now say some loons in France started bombing them, USA invades UK (???).

We have marines in our streets, bursting into our homes at 3am and putting m16's into your wife and childs face while screaming, some resist so they start mortaring your whole neibourhood killing your child.

Now i don't know about you but i know damn well what my response would, hell even it being your child and not mine i know what my response would be.

And this is happening every single day in Iraq.

The west cannot win in Iraq or the arab world as a whole with these tactics, all they are doing is garanteeing things will get worse, never better.

You would have thought they learned this with veitnam but seems the lessons from 30 years ago are easly forgotten.

And really if we get down to it Hitler started invading countries and eventually the world thought he pushed it to far and turned to stop him (the jewish genocide had little to do with the wests response as what little was known of what was going on was not of major interest and definatly was never a "war cry")

This time it is us supporting the invaders (Isreal) or being the actual invaders (Iraq) so arabic countrys like Egypt who are supporting us are the "appeasers" this time around because we are the aggressors

You can't call something being defensive when you send major army thousands miles away from your homeland to occupy somebody else's territory. Its offensive, aggressive operation that helps to recruit locals to resist it.
