I'm happy for wind farms out at sea. I don't want them on land. Bloody eyesores.

why does the power supply need to be 100% continuous
It doesn't if there's an alternative, or stored energy, to take up the slack.

There are a fair few on the Pennines near me, I don't find them especially unsightly.

Switch off power to those homes that find turbines unsightly, in 24 hours the opinion will change radically and locals will look at turbines differently.

On a serious note - pay some extra £££ to locals in immediate vicinity or give them free power (up to a limit).

That wasn't the point though, AtW. And if you and Tykemerc don't understand the point, I cannot explain it.

It's purely a personal opinion in my case, I can understand why some people might find them ugly. I don't find them more unsightly than many buildings in the same areas.

Assuming it's practical and of course cost effective then putting turbines at sea makes a lot of sense.

No, it's not a problem - volume of required energy might be so it needs to be saved or obtained from different sources, but if you advocate living in a cave then I hear there are plenty of caves in Scotland - you should have a nice view on lots of turbines working

                    It's a stoopid question, I know that.

But how hard would it be to accept and cope with the fact that your plug-holes will only work 80% of the time ?

So I can read your posts on my desktop at work.

Apart from that, it is so I can work uninterrupted and earn money. And watch TV. And see at night. And travel by train.
