    That's a good idea.

An even better one is to give her some lessons when it has snowed too. (Assuming it ever does. I'm not convinced either.)

I taught my wife to drive on snow and ice many moons back on deserted country lanes and empty dual-carriageways. Once she got the hang of it, she loved it. Getting her to attempt emergency stops on a dual carriageway at increasing speeds was great fun.

Snow & ice have never bothered her since.

Right, listen up! We've got some snow now in London.

Well when I say snow I mean some sleety rain which isn't settling. Pah! It's pathetic.

Just starting here just outside the City.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Quite a lot of snow here now. It's been going non-stop since about 7pm, with the news saying 30-40cm for North Oxfordshire.

The joys of having nowhere to go in the morning.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

My ex wife has (for want of a better term) snow chains/crampons that she fits to her shoes, they're rather a neat invention, and fit on any shoes/boots.

I think she got them in the States, but they mean she can wear ordinary female non climbing footwear (boots obviously) and not go arse over tit when it's snowed. They're small enough to go in her handbag when not needed.

Something like these but a bit neater. Might help with your issues.

Roughly 6 inches of snow here in West Yorkshire now.

                      Pathetic show round here

There might have been an inch or so of snow, but it's been melting only slightly slower than it's been settling and has now frozen again, so the grand total is about a quarter of an inch of frozen slush. This makes the pavements somewhat treacherous (and the untreated roads positively dangerous) but that's still no excuse for the poor showing in the watering holes tonight.

In the pub that has granted me temporary refugee status there were four people when I walked in, and the barman told me it was the busiest he'd been all day. He'd even built a little snowman outside - no mean feat when you're the only person on duty

Those four people left just after I arrived (though one hopes the two events were unrelated) and then it was just the two of us for the next ten minutes, until another stalwart arrived. Then one of the barman's mates turned up and, after the doors had been closed an hour early, a chap who'd been working late at the local paper arrived. Eventually the barman decided he'd rather have an early night (by his normal standards) so it was "one more half and then I'm done" time

The FMB bar wasn't much better: the staff were wearing coats behind the bar, as the management have set the thermostat on the assumption that there will be a number of people in the place generating warmth, and there weren't. They decide to shut up shop an hour before their usual time too.

Cautiously making my way back down the icy pavements, I noticed that the kebab shop up the road had closed. I think that's the first time I've ever seen that place close before 01:30.

Shame we didn't have some proper snow; it'd be easier to walk through than teetering on frozen slush, and it'd bring people out for the experience, the snowball fights, and so forth.

Ho hum; maybe we'll get a decent fall overnight or tomorrow
