Daniel Bernouli was a mathemetician. One of his most famous discoveries (among many others) was Bernouli's principle, fluid dynamics.
This is the underpinning theory of lift in flight, and comes from the pressure differences set up when a fluid passes over contours on an object, eg a wing. As the top of the wing is contoured, and the bottom of the wing is flat the air has further to travel (giving an increase in speed and decrease in pressure) over the top of the wing than the bottom and hence a pressure difference is established. The pressure on the bottom of the wing is greater than that on the top hence lift is produced.Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.Comment

Who was Bernoulli?
The fact that nobody can answer that is a sign to me that I am the only trained engineer posting on this thread.
How exactly will demonstrating a knowledge of history prove anybody's engineering credentials? And why are you no longer interested in the original question?
Could it be because Fred asked you some questions about said principle that you yourself are unable to answer?

Would you like to address his father to the work he did in maths, would you like to address his extended family in their work to further engineering? The question was loaded I agree but it was there to prove a point that studying engineering in university gives you far more than the google knowledge you have shown us equates to a real engineering degree.
And with that this is my final word.Comment
